Carsten Eberhardt (HEAD) and Stefan Schüßler (Sparkasse Hanau) were also awarded in their absence. Both have been the contact persons of our tournament sponsors active since 2007. They received the HTV Honorary Letter on behalf of our tournament namesake HEAD and tournament supporter Sparkasse Hanau in recognition of their services to tennis.

The Badge of Honour in Silver can be used to honour deserving board members who have rendered outstanding service to the club over the course of 20 years, as well as people who have worked in an extraordinary manner for the association and its subdivisions, as well as active players who have served the reputation of the association through outstanding commitment and above-average success.

According to Kai Burkhardt, Martin Fetzer, Tournament Director since 2007, and Sven Kurandt, Tournament Week Organiser since 2001, each meet several of the above-mentioned. And so, he honoured both with the Silver Badge of the Hessian Tennis-Association.

In his laudation, Kai Burkhardt praised Martin Fetzer’s role of tournament director as well as his further voluntary work as auditor (2 years) and treasurer over 8 years for the TCB, along with his assignments as DTB B head judge since 2016, e. g. at the Hessian Championships and in the Hessen League.

In honour of Sven Kurandt, Kai Burkhardt emphasized additionally to his role as tournament week organiser his decades of work as a committed and successful tennis coach, and furthermore his successes as a player (3. place Mixed World Championships, 3. Place German Championships, Hessen Champion and for decades TCB team player, currently in the Regionalliga Men 40).

The timing of the award was chosen as the hosting of this year’s HEAD Cup Bruchköbel operated by Michel Hotel, the 20th ITF Juniors tournament of the TCB, remains uncertain due to the travel restrictions associated with the Convid-19 pandemic. The current tournament planning targets the date September 12 – 20, 2020.
