It has already been one week since our HEAD Cup Bruchköbel 2021 took place, and we had a premiere last Saturday. Tea Lukic and Joelle Lilly Sophie Steur defended their doubles title. This is the first time a doubles pairing has won the tournament twice in a row.
In 2020, Lukic and Steur dominated the girls doubles and won the title after defeating third-seeded Belgian duo Juliette Bovy and Amelie Van Impe 6-2 6-3 in the first round. In the final, they won a close match against Mia Mack and Julia Middendorf 6-2 3-6 [10-8].
This year, Lukic and Steur were seeded second themselves and offered exciting matches. In the final, they ultimately met first seeds Carolina Kuhl and Ella Seidel. With a 6-4 6-1 win, our defending champions proved that they are a well-coordinated team.
Never change a winning team.
